True Stories: Trapped: Earthquake Rapid Response
October 8th, 2005 - A peaceful morning in the Pakistan capital Islamabad is interrupted by a massive earthquake. The seismic shock rips through the Margala Towers - a series of high-rise apartment buildings in the city's wealthiest district - burying residents beneath a mammoth pile of rubble. A British disaster response team is one of the first international crews to arrive on the scene. With specialized training and high-tech equipment, they begin the painstaking work of unearthing survivors. The search area is as large as a football field - and 160 residents are missing. As 90 per cent of earthquake survivors are dug out in the first 24 hours, speed is crucial. Using the 'call and listen' technique, the team uncovers two survivors within a few hours. They find more survivors trapped in 'voids' within the rubble, and use a series of specialized tools including a vibra-phone and a fiber-optic camera probe to locate them. In a race against time, the team begins digging. With slow and laborious teamwork, they cut through heavily compressed debris and crawl towards the survivors. Over four days, the team save seven survivors from the rubble. While the earthquake claims a total of 87,000 lives and leaves another 3.5 million people homeless, the Margala Towers rescue mission inspires hope, courage and faith among the survivors.

With so many creatures sharing the same space and resources, clashes are inevitable, but the opponents aren't always the animals we expect. Every now and then, circumstances take an unusual turn, transforming the tiniest critters into monsters, the fiercest predators' hapless victims, and plant-munching prey into deadly enemies. Watch as cheetah coalitions wage war, a warthog takes on two lionesses, a lion is tossed above the heads of a buffalo herd and a jackal and vulture go head to head. All this and more, as some unusual enemies get Caught in the Act!
