True Stories: Against All Odds: Buried Alive
A cross country skier is caught in an avalanche and buried 6 feet under the snow. A construction worker is buried for 16 hours under 5 feet of dirt by a trench cave in. And a diver is trapped in a small air pocket more than one thousand feet inside an underwater cave. They all survived. The program explores the science behind these unbelievable events that seem to be against all odds.

Nat Geo Wild: The Last Lioness
A haunting call echoes across the Liuwa Plain. There is no answer, there hasn't been for years. She has no pride, no support - she alone must safeguard her own survival. Her name is Lady Liuwa, and she is the Last Lioness. Isolated by a scourge of illegal trophy hunting that wiped out the rest of her species in the region, Lady Liuwa is the only known resident lion surviving on Zambia's Liuwa Plain. For four years, cameraman Herbert Brauer watched her lonely life unfold, until, in her solitude, she reached out to him for companionship. But Herbert knows he is not the companion this lonely lioness needs - she should be amongst her own kind. Now, in May of 2009, plans for a male lion translocation have come through, and there is hope for ending her isolation. For the first time in more than five years, Lady Liuwa will no longer be the Last Lioness.
9.00pm
Big: Megacities: New York City
They call it the Big Apple -- the largest metropolis in America. Eight million people scattered across five boroughs - each a city in itself. Like no place on earth, New York is famed for its pace. Yet life here would slow to a crawl without one vital piece of infrastructure: the subway. In a city where 75 percent of the people don't have a car, the New York subway offers the best transit system in America. Every week day, trains carry 4.5 million people - nearly the entire population of Norway -- making it one of the world's busiest subway systems. Yet daily, it faces a triple threat: from man, nature, and time. Megacities- New York follows the emergency management response team as they plot rescues, escapes and re-routing on the fly, in order to ensure the safety of both the riders and workers of the subway. The threats range from breakdowns to flooding to terrorism. Within this vital organ, life pulses at the speed of a New York minute. And every day, the city struggles to keep it beating and keep it safe.
10.00pm
Construction Zone: Akashi Kaikyo Bridge
The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge: It's the world's longest suspension bridge - a third longer than any constructed before. Its also the tallest and the most expensive suspension bridge ever built. But it's built in a place where no bridge should be. Japan's Akashi Strait is a deepwater channel beset by typhoons; heavy rain; treacherous currents and to make things worse, it is built in the middle of a major earthquake zone. Midway through construction the bridge was hit by the full force of the Kobe earthquake. Incredibly, construction is only delayed by a month. The bridge has been open and trouble-free for six years. But could it one day fall down?
10.30pm
Construction Zone: Autobahn
It is the most famous road in the world-the Autobahn and one of the few places in the world where serious drivers can race luxury cars for seemingly endless stretches of mile after scenic mile¿at eye flattening speeds. The history, technology, and lore surround this modern marvel is truly impressive. Every driver that ever embraced the freedom of the open road owes a nod to Germany, because the modern highway was invented here. The Autobahn (meaning high-speed motorway system) is truly one of a kind.
